A design-forward boutique hotel located in Indian Wells, California, the Sands Hotel and Spa is known for its distinct mid-century meets Moroccan aesthetic. The property combines bright colors, bespoke textiles, and architectural design for an unforgettable desert stay.

The hotel features 46 rooms and suites, each with its own personality, with custom furnishings designed by celebrated designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard. The suite I stayed in had its own private balcony and it was as aesthetically serene as the hotel with its very pink walls, unique light fixtures, and bright floor tiles.
Since I went for my birthday, the staff left a bottle of champagne and a couple of glasses in my room, alongside a note I still look at every so often.
It’s the little things that count. Always.

For on-site dining, the Pink Cabana channels the spirit of 1950s and ’60s Palm Springs tennis clubs, with a Moroccan twist. The space blends desert glamour with Mediterranean influences, with their menu offering fresh seafood, salads, and shareable plates that feel light yet indulgent at the same time.
My favorite? The oysters.

If you thought their Instagram feed looked gorgeous, being here in person was a completely different experience – in the best way. Although I did come here during the wintertime, it’s still a beautiful getaway from all the noise. Just like Jacumba, there’s something quite magical about the desert and the hotels that proudly reside in them – the Sands is no exception.

In the area

A family-owned botanical garden in the heart of Palm Springs, that specializes in cacti, succulents, and other desert plants from around the world. It also hosts the world’s first “Cactarium” – a special cactus greenhouse filled with rare specimens.

Founded in 1938, it has evolved from a desert natural history museum into a world-class visual arts institution. The museum has multiple galleries and outdoor sculpture gardens that showcase both international and regional artists.

Often called the Rodeo Drive of the Desert, it is a palm-lined shopping destination in nearby Palm Desert featuring luxury boutiques, independent designers, art galleries, and quaint cafés.
What I Wore

Always here for a matching, matching moment. Even if it’s just my pajamas.

Because pink and green go together, just like the Sands pink walls + my mod green dress.
