Welcome to The Minimalist Maximalist – a personal style and fashion blog with the occasional dose of travel.

Originally launched as The Chrissy Collective back in 2016, this blog was reimagined during the 2020 pandemic into what you’re reading today. But even before I began blogging, Minimalist Maximalist was a term I coined to describe my personal sense of style.

Growing up between Hong Kong and Southern California, I naturally blended the aesthetic influences of both places into the style I’ve become known for: clean, sensual, and femininely intentional.

What Minimalist Maximalist means to me is an effortless combination of no-fuss elegance with a flair for the dramatic – think structured silhouettes and effortless layering, paired with textures, bold accessories, and the occasional avant-garde edge.

I’m inspired by the likes of Iris van Herpen, Tom Ford’s Gucci era, Jacquemus’ earliest collections, and Schiaparelli, just to name a few – but I also love mixing in thrifted and vintage pieces for a look that’s grounded, personal, and a little unexpected.

But at the end of the day, it all goes back to my love for minimalism and maximalism:

From minimalism, I’ve embraced the idea of repurposing and rewearing pieces in new ways, shopping intentionally, and building a wardrobe from the ground up.

From maximalism, I’ve learned the joy of transforming a simple outfit through texture, accessories, and storytelling – creating a style that reflects exactly how I feel in the moment.

A couple years later, I felt a pull in a different direction: the art behind hotel interiors. Just like my own personal style, I was attracted to the seemingly effortlessness of maximalist spaces while admiring the intentionality behind minimalism.

Whether it’s a historic boutique stay or a modern city escape, each destination will be approached the same way I approach fashion: with balance, detail, and a touch of quiet luxury.

It’s my hope that you’ll enjoy The Minimalist Maximalist as much as I enjoy creating it — sharing not just what I wear, but where I wander and how I experience the world.

Thank you, truly, for being here. I look forward to continuing this journey and getting to know you better along the way.

With love,
Chrissy
