Welcome to The Minimalist Maximalist — a personal collection of style, travel, beautiful places, and everything in between.
I originally started this little corner of the internet as The Chrissy Collective in 2016 before reimagining it into The Minimalist Maximalist during the beautifully but chaotic year that was 2020. What started primarily as a place to express my personal style, photography skills, and fashion knowledge has grown into something much bigger: part personal diary, part travel journal, and part ongoing collection of the things, places, and experiences I find worth remembering.
But before The Minimalist Maximalist became the blog that it is today, it was the best way I knew how to describe my personal style back then.
Growing up between Hong Kong and Southern California shaped much of the way I see personal style and by extension, my own life philosophies.
The minimalist in me believes in buying thoughtfully, rewearing what I already own, and building a wardrobe around pieces I genuinely love rather than endlessly chasing what’s new. I also appreciate spaces that feel minimally calm, and I’m a firm believer that sometimes less can be enough.
The maximalist in me, however, loves the multi-dimensional patterned tile, dramatic architecture, ridiculous chandelier, statement earrings, and mixing different patterns and textures whenever I am able.
After all, life is too short to wear plain clothes.
Although The Minimalist Maximalist has changed quite a bit since 2016 – and I imagine it’ll keep changing with me – I hope somewhere among these pages, you find something that inspires you to dress a little more like yourself, go someplace new, or make a memory worth keeping (and taking photos of).
With love,
Chrissy
