A Wine Country Escape at Ponte Vineyard Inn

One of my favorite things about living in Southern California is finding little pockets of Spanish-influenced architecture hidden in plain sight.

Set in the heart of Temecula Valley wine country, Ponte Vineyard Inn is one of several vineyard hotels in Temecula. Surrounded by what feels like endless rows of vineyards, gorgeous manicured gardens, and scenic mountain views, the property is a peaceful escape just minutes from some of the top wineries in Temecula, like Europa.

Designed with Spanish Mission-style architecture and modern amenities, this Temecula wine country hotel features spacious hotel rooms, on-site dining, wine tasting experiences, and a resort-style pool. One of my favorite past times was taking vineyard walks around the property and the free tastings at Ponte and Bottaia Wineries.

THE STAY: PONTE VINEYARD INN

The inn offers 60 spacious rooms with a modern, Tuscan contemporary feel — a subtle contrast to the more rustic vineyard setting just outside. Many of the rooms, including the one I stayed in, had private patios or balconies with views of the vineyards and/or pool.

What stood out most were the amenities, from extremely plush linens, updated bathrooms, and in-room coffee and tea (which weren’t too bad!), all of which added an extra layer of comfort to the stay.

WHERE TO EAT & DINE

There are a mix of elevated and casual options available on-site — from a full-service experience at The Restaurant at Ponte and Bouquet Restaurant, where seasonal, wine-friendly dishes are paired with vineyard views for a more refined, date night kind of meal to the Poolside Bar & Grill, which offers shareable bites and refreshing drinks for midday lounging or tanning.

Meanwhile, The Cellar is a cozy, wine-forward space ideal for unwinding in the evening with small plates and a glass in hand. As it’s beneath the inn, it can become quite cold so I recommend bringing in a light jacket.

Ponte Winery
One of the largest wineries in Temecula, Ponte prides itself on year-round vineyard care and modern viticulture techniques to produce consistently high-quality, estate-grown wines.

Bottaia Winery
Italian-inspired and locally crafted, the space feels sleek and contemporary, a contrast to the traditional vineyard setting. Bottaia focuses on small-lot wines and immersive tasting experiences.

AROUND THE AREA: OLD TOWN TEMECULA

Le Coffee Shop

Bringing a touch of Paris to Old Town Temecula, this French-inspired café that pairs classic coffee offerings with light, European-style fare. The menu features espresso drinks, pastries, crepes, and simple breakfast plates (the waffles were delicious!).

The Crafted Scone

This cozy boutique café in Old Town Temecula is known for its fresh, handcrafted scones and drink menu. Blending the feel of a bakeshop and coffee bar, the space offers everything from sweet and savory scones to lattes, teas, and light brunch options like “sconewiches” and avocado toast.

My recs: Blackberry refresher, peach berry fizz, French lavender latte

Thompson & Twain Prospecting Co.

One of Temecula’s best-kept secrets, this Western frontier–themed speakeasy is tucked discreetly within Old Town. Inspired by the spirit of the Gold Rush, the space blends rustic western charm with expertly crafted cocktails for a unique experience.

My stay at Ponte Vineyard Inn was one of those rare trips where slowing down came surprisingly easy. There wasn’t much to do but take in the view, enjoy the wine, and let myself be exactly where I was: present and in the moment.

I loved the contrast between Ponte’s sun-kissed, Spanish-inspired architecture and the sleek modernity of nearby BOTTAIA Winery. They felt like two completely different worlds tucked into the same stretch of Temecula wine country, making those few days feel a lot longer and slower than it seems.
